At West Dental Care the safety of our patients has always been a top priority. We have implemented additional safety measures set forth by the guidelines recommended by the TSBDE, TDA, ADA, CDC and other agencies. We continue to monitor the COVID-19 crisis situation.
Although dental offices have been allowed to reopen in Texas, we are required to do some things a little differently. As a result, you may notice the following changes.
Before your appointment:
- You will be asked screening questions before making or confirming an appointment
- Bring a mask or face covering and a pen
- Bring a jacket. The clinical area gets pretty chilly
During your appointment:
- When you arrive stay in your vehicle and call our office to let us know you are here.
- A Staff member will let you know when we are ready to receive you in the office.
- When you enter you will be asked to sanitize your hands and answer screening questions.
- Your temperature will be taken by a staff member.
- Companions are not allowed unless accompanying a minor, special needs, or elderly patient.
- You may be asked to put on a face mask.
- Waiting room has been adjusted to promote social distancing.
- Only patients for treatment will be allowed into the treatment area.
- We may ask you to pre-rinse with peroxide.
- We will be wearing more stuff. Don’t worry its still the same friendly staff behind that N95!
After your appointment:
- You will be directed to the designated checkout area.
Screening questions:
- Have you tested positive for COVID-19?
- Have you been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting results?
- Do you have any of the following respiratory symptoms? Fever, Sore Throat, Cough, Shortness of Breath?
- Have you recently lost your sense of smell or taste?
- Do you have any GI symptoms? Diarrhea? Nausea?
- Even if you don’t currently have any of the above symptoms, have you experienced any of these symptoms in the last 14 days?
- Have you been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
- Have you traveled outside the United States by air or cruise ship in the past 14 days?
- Have you traveled within the United States by air, bus or train within the past 14 days?
Note: Positive responses to any of these would likely indicate a deeper discussion with
the dentist before proceeding with elective dental treatment.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your patience as
we perform our diligence in compliance with the new safety recommendations.
How to protect yourself and stop the spread of germs:
- Sanitize your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hands.
- Stay at home when you are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
